Tolgos Apologizes to Uhuru Over Dam Scandal

Alex Tolgos, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor has apologized to President Uhuru Kenyatta after four MPs made negative comments regarding the Arror and Kimwarer dam projects on Saturday.

“On behalf of the people of Elgeyo-Marakwet, we sincerely apologise to the Head of State over political utterances by four MPs and a handful of MCAs, purporting to be speaking on behalf of the people on the ongoing investigations," he stated.

The MPs, Daniel Rono (Keiyo South), Kangongo Bowen (Marakwet East), Oscar Sudi(Kapseret MP) and Elgeyo Marakwet Woman Representative Jane Kiptoo had threatened to organize demonstrations against the Government.

They wanted the construction of the Ksh21 billion dams halted, pending investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

"The government should suspend the implementation of the two projects. We shall have no other option but to 'ditch' Jubilee Party, which we overwhelmingly voted for,” stated Rono.

"Kenyans will decide who will be their next president at the end of the day," Ms Kiptoo added.

The Governor noted the MPs' sentiments did not represent the views of Elgeyo Marakwet people and their leaders.

Reports by Daily Nation state the County boss cited that the lawmakers ought to have settled the dispute in an amicable manner.

"They ought to have relaxed instead of ranting because Jubilee has mechanisms of resolving disputes," he noted.
