Widow Hospitalised After Losing Second Son in Plane Crash

Mama Celina Keter, who hails from Kamasian ward in Kipkelion West has been hospitalized following the death of her last born son, Cosmas Kipng'etich Rogony in the Ethiopian Boeing 737 MAX 8 crash that killed 32 Kenyans.

On January 30, 2000, Ms Keter had lost yet another son, Richard Rogony, who was a crew member in the Airbus A310 plane crash in Ivory Coast.

Philip Mason, the victim's elder brother stated the death comes 19 years after his brother Richard died.

Richard was among 179 people who died in Kenya Airways flight 431 which crashed into the sea off the coast of Côte d'Ivoire, shortly after takeoff from Abidjan.

"We don't even know how to break the news to the other elderly family members.

"It is so unfortunate that as a family we have lost two siblings in two separate airplane crashes," Mason narrated.

According to The Standard, Mason, who is the Kericho Agriculture CEC, stated that his younger brother was a medical engineer and was in Ethiopia to oversee the installation of medical equipment.

"My brother had been in Ethiopia for the last two weeks installing medical equipment. His job took him to many African countries," he noted.

Mason recalled that Kipng'etich was a dependable family member who always assisted the less fortunate family members.

He added that they were yet to receive any information on Kipng'etich's remains.

Kipng'etich is survived by his three-year-old daughter and girlfriend whom he had plans to wed.
