High School Student Kills Mother's Boyfriend

A 16-year-old high school boy stabbed to death a boyfriend to his 40-year-old mother in Litein, Kericho County.

According to Citizen, the Form One student at Kiburus Secondary School found the 65-year-old man making love with his widowed mother.

The boy reportedly fetched a kitchen knife and fatally stabbed the old man in the chest.

"I heard screams and when I rushed to check, I saw the man drop dead with a knife-stab wound on the chest," a neighbor at Ririat Village near Litein Town narrated.

According to another neighbor, the student questioned the man's presence at his mother's home before a confrontation ensued.

"What are you doing with my mother, yet you are not my father?" he had reportedly posed.

Neighbors further described the boy as “usually quiet” and “has never portrayed elements of violence”.

Cases of tragic domestic violence have been on the rise in the recent past.

On March 14, 2019, for instance, a police officer who shot dead a secondary school teacher in Navakholo Sub-County in Kakamega by spraying 47 bullets.

Patrick Nyapara allegedly shot to death Christine Maonga, a teacher at Navakholo Secondary School and with whom he had a child.

The police officer had sponsored the university education of his daughter and that she had rejected him upon getting employment by Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
