Judge Mohammed Warsame's Friendship With Ahmednasir Lands Him in Hot Water

A Kenyan man has petitioned the Judicial Service Commission to investigate and remove Judge Mohammed Wasarme of the Court of Appeal.

Wardere Mohamud Bule filed the petition on Tuesday claiming that Justice Warsame, who is also a member of the Judiciary Service Commission, had breached the Judicial Code of Conduct.

He claimed that the judge had a close relationship with Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi, who allegedly helps in fixing benches to hear his matters as well as a conduit for bribes.

Reports from Daily Nation indicate that Bule pledged to give details to the JSC with details of the inappropriate contacts between the judge and the senior counsel.

“The petitioner prays that the JSC finds that the conduct of Justice Mohammed Warsame is in breach of the judicial code of conduct,” read part of the petition.

He cited a number of cases in which judges were allegedly compromised.

Surprisingly, last week, four Supreme Court judges were given 14 days to respond to allegations that they were involved in bribery and other accusations of misconduct.

The petition had been filed by lawyer Ahmednasir against judges Jackton Ojwang', Smokin Wanjala, Mohammed Ibrahim and Njoki Ndung'u.

The lawyer accused the judges of pocketing more than Ksh390 million to influence the outcome of the appeal, where he represented former Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi.
