Citizen TV's Enock Sikolia Cooks Ugali for Baringo Drought Victims [PHOTOS]

Citizen TV journalist Enock Sikolia, on Wednesday, while reporting on the drought situation in Baringo, took some time to prepare ugali meal for a family.

While covering the situation in the county, the media station's crew found that relief food was yet to reach certain areas in Tiaty constituency.

Residents who are in dire need of food and water in Lodeng'o area had been forced to feed on wild fruits with elderly women and children being most affected.

The journalist interacted with some of the affected residents whose situation was getting dire by the day.

"I have not eaten in three days, and getting water is a problem. I rely on children who got get me water.

"I don't have any flour right now. I have used whatever was left to cook the last mug of porridge. I go to people's houses to beg for food," a malnourished woman told the reporter.

On Wednesday, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko released trucks full of relief food to Turkana as an act to save lives in his capacity as the Good Deeds Ambassador.

Workers from the governor's rescue team loaded bags of rice weighing more than 3,000 kgs with 860 three-litre jerricans of oil destined for the drought-stricken county.

On the other hand, Deputy President William Ruto stated that nobody had died from drought adding that the reports were mere fake news.

Echoing the sentiments, Interior CS Fred Matiang'i revealed that the chief who reported deaths arising from the drought in Baringo County had been fired a long time ago.

Reading from the same scripts, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, during an interview with Citizen TV, also maintained that no Kenyan had died as a result of the drought.

"There is no cause for alarm. There is plenty of food within our borders," CS Wamalwa maintained.

On Monday, Kenyans on Twitter developed the tag #WeCannotIgnore for purposes of sharing factual information about the situation in Turkana to ensure the government acts and does so with speed.
