Senator Mutula Kilonzo's Call to Uhuru Garners Support From Kenyans

A call by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr to President Uhuru Kenyatta has garnered massive support from Kenyans.

Following the reports of drought ravaging parts of Turkana and Baringo Counties, the legislator reached out to Uhuru asking him to take charge of the situation.

"Our dear President, it is insensitive to deny that Kenyans are dying of hunger at press conferences and air conditioned offices in NAIROBI.

"The pictures speak for themselves. At a time like this, we urge you to call to order the entire Government to ensure no Kenyan sleeps hungry," Mutula requested Uhuru.

It is a call that resonated with a majority of Kenyans who expressed their frustration given that government officials including Deputy President William Ruto and Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.

"Oh Yes. And also do ask him to give press conferences from those hard hit dry fields in Turkana with the old dying of starvation . He is living in a world of illusion," Oloo Ben Odhiambo added.

"Its sad engaging in monkey business and denying it while those on the ground are painting a different picture. Denying people are dying shows how irresponsible our government is," Collins SK indicated.

Joy Doreen Biira opined, "He should simply take them all (government officials) on a tour of the affected counties".

Another netizen Cosmas Mwaka ‏"When Mr president said tunakula nyama mnameza mate (we are eating meat, as you salivate), he wasn't joking, that why yeye ameshiba na anasema hakuna njaa (he has eaten to satisfaction and is saying there is no hunger) yet we have eyes".

"They should be holding press conference at Turkana not here in Nairobi to get the real picture," Daggy Isutsa added.

"It's quite a pity seeing Kenyans fundraising to help their fellows when we've been paying taxes to feed these 'big-stomached' guys. We need to see some change somewhere," Jane Kyalo remarked.

Jeff Ambundo stated "When Chiefs are intimidated into silence for saying the obvious, no one will speak".

"I only wish the spin masters would put more thought in their messaging. This ostrich head in sand doesn't cut it," a tweep by the name Joe stated.

On Monday, Kenyans on Twitter developed the tag #WeCannotIgnore for purposes of sharing factual information about the situation in Turkana to ensure the government acts and does so with speed.
