Scores Feared Dead as Truck Rams Into Fleet of Vehicles

14 people, on Friday, lost their lives in a gruesome accident along Nakuru-Nairobi Highway after a truck rammed into a matatu at Kikopey area.

According to reports People Daily and K24, the trailer in question crashed into six vehicles claiming the lives of all the 14 occupants of a Nissan Matatu.

At the time of publishing, the police had not arrived at the scene of the accident.

According to reports, the lorry lost control and rammed into the vehicles and that the victims were still trapped in the wrecks.

Daily Nation and The Standard reported that 11 people had been confirmed dead from the accident.

Confirming the incident, Gilgil Police Boss Emmanuel Opuru revealed that rescue operations were headed were heading to the accident scene.

In October last year, another accident claimed lives of more than 50 people after the bus veered off the road at Fort Tennan area in Kericho.

Fort Tenan Police Station OCS Charles Ocharo confirmed, at the time, details of the grisly accident saying the bus was heading to Kisumu from Nairobi when it veered off a flyover, rolling several times.

The 67-seater bus reportedly to have veered off the road while descending a steep slope. The bus then hit a guardrail, rolled and plunged down about 20 metres.
