Education CS Magoha Swears in at State House, Nairobi

Education CS George Magoha on Tuesday took oath of office at State House, Nairobi, in a ceremony  conducted by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.

President Uhuru Kenyatta who was present at CS Magoha's swearing-in also witnessed the swearing in of the new Commissioner General of the Kenya Prisons Service Wycliffe Ogalo.

Addressing the new Education boss moments later, Uhuru commended him for his past demonstrated dedication to service delivery in the country.

Commending the new CS Magoha for his appointment, President Kenyatta state, “We have worked with you in delivering credible exams.

"I am now counting on you on the 100% transition from primary to secondary schools," the President added.

Uhuru further entrusted Magoha with good management of resources in the Ministry of Education which is critical sector.

Equally, Uhuru charged Magoha with the implementation of the new curriculum which has suffered several hitches in the past.

In his speech, the Head of State noted that Professor Magoha is an experienced public servant whose wealth of experience will be relied on in the prudent management of the education sector.

Turning to the new Commissioner General of Kenya Prisons Service Mr. Ogalo, the President commended him and pointed his long standing career as a civil servant.

He further indicated that Ogalo's management acumen will be key in the ongoing reforms to ensure prisons fully serve their rehabilitation role.

"We want to see you continue with the ongoing reforms . We believe that there is that ability for you and your fellow officers as well as men and women who serve under you to see how the reformed prisoners can positively contribute to the development of Kenya," the President stated.

The swearing-in ceremony was also witnessed by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Chief of Staff and Head of Delivery Nzioka Waita among other senior government officials.
