NTSA Hunts Matatu Driver Filmed Thrashing Passenger With Metal Rod

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) is looking for a matatu driver who was filmed clobbering a male passenger using a metal rod.

In a statement, NTSA indicated, “Our attention has been brought on the video which was circulated on social media sites yesterday of a driver attacking a passenger.

"This action taken by the driver is unacceptable, we will update on the action taken," the agency added.

NTSA was responding after a video shared by tweeps and bloggers went viral.

One netizen indicated that the incident happened along Kangundo road and the matatu's registration number was KAK 251C.

In the video, the two are seen exchanging blows, with the matatu driver heading to the vehicle, where he retrieves a metal rod that he uses to attack the passenger.

In mid March, the National Transport and Security Authority (NTSA) nabbed a woman who had six children stuffed in the boot of a Toyota Corolla.

The tweep explained that the owner, Monica Atieno Ocholla, had been arraigned in a Nanyuki Court on March 21, 2019.

"The owner who is also the driver of the vehicle caught ferrying school children in the boot of her vehicle was arraigned in court (Nanyuki) on ( 21/03/19) and fined Ksh26,000," part of the NTSA tweet read.

The photo had gone viral on Facebook, with netizens asking for action to be taken.
