Six bodies were, on Tuesday, discovered decomposing at Kanga area in Tsavo Forest following a search by the areas Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers.
The bodies appeared partly burnt and officers from Mtito Andei Police Station suspected that they might have been murdered elsewhere and their bodies dumped there.
The cause of death was, however, yet to be established.
Rangers Mark Lesidio and James Simiti revealed while they were patrolling Tsavo West National Park, they smelt a stench emanating from a section of the forest and so they decided to probe further.
The bodies were found about 15 km from their station and one kilometer from Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
The bodies did not have any clothes on them.
Confirming the incident, Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim urged those who had lost relatives to make reports.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Makindu Hospital mortuary for postmortem and identification.
No documents were recovered from the bodies of the deceased.
