Kenyatta University, on Thursday, announced the postponement of its exams following the visit by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
According to a letter signed by the institution's Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, John Okumu, all exams that had been slated for Friday between 2pm and 6:30pm were postponed to Monday, April 8.
Museveni was expected to give a public lecture at the institution that Friday.
"The University will be hosting His Excellency, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda for a public lecture on Friday 29th March 2019 as from 2pm at the Amphitheater. All students are expected to attend this important function.
"In view of the foregoing, all the examinations which were scheduled to take place on Friday, 29th March 2019, between 2pm and 6:30pm have been postponed to Monday 8th April 2019," read the letter in part.
The letter was addressed to all students and copied to other Deputy Vice Chancellors, Deans, Registrars among others.
Speaking to this writer, a representative from the University's registrar's office authoritatively confirmed that the letter had been approved by the institution.
"We can confirm that the letter was approved by the institution," stated the representative.
Museveni is in the country for a three-day visit, which commenced on Wednesday, when he was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House in Mombasa.
As part of an agreement between the two presidents, Kenya agreed to give land in Naivasha to Uganda for the construction of a dry port.
