Cosmetics Store Madora in Karen Nabbed Selling Counterfeit Designer Perfumes

Detectives, on Friday, raided high-end store Madora at a Karen Mall where they discovered counterfeit designer perfumes.

Two people were arrested at the popular high-end beauty store that stocks French brands Dior, Chanel, Black Up and Givenchy, as well as American Tom Ford.

The goods are estimated to be worth Ksh1.5 Million.

According to its website, Madora describes itself as 'the leading retailer of perfume and cosmetic stores in the Indian Ocean region.'

Founded in Reunion Island forty years ago, Madora was originally a haberdasher’s shop in the seventies, before it became a perfumery.

"The story of Madora is one of entrepreneurship, excellence, and heritage. Madora has earned its reputation as a trusted beauty-retail concept with a single, overarching belief," the store explained.

Earlier on Tuesday, a covert operation carried out by Anti-Counterfeit Agency officials alongside police officers unearthed a fake oil refilling workshop where fuel valued at approximately Ksh3 Million was seized in Kariokor.

Similarly on Tuesday, detectives conducted a raid in shops along Luthuli Avenue in downtown Nairobi and confiscated fake mobile phones and accessories valued at over Ksh8 Million.

Among the accessories confiscated when the agency raided the shops after a complaint by phone manufacturer Samsung were chargers, batteries, phone covers, and earphones.
