DCI Hunt Soccer Star After Kidnapping Kenyan Boss' Child

Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers are pursuing a Congolese footballer, Patient Lukige, who is wanted for allegedly kidnapping in Kenya.

He was accused of holding hostage Wazito FC’s sporting Director Solomon Alubala’s two-year-old son for hours until the family parted with Ksh120,000 and is now on the run.

Lukige, who was once housed by Alubala, is said to have sneaked into the compound before taking away the child He would later make a demand for Ksh 200,000.

According to his former teammates, Lukige, who has since left the club, kidnapped the minor as compensation for monies owed to him by the club.

After a lengthy negotiation, the two parties agreed on Ksh 120,000 ‘ransom’ for the ‘kidnapper’ to release the minor. Police said the child was found at Roast House next to Koja-Stage in Nairobi CBD.

Speaking on phone with Standard Media, Alubala reported, “He wanted to extort money from me. He demanded Ksh 200,000, but I paid him Ksh 120, 000. The matter is with the CID now.”

The case was reported at the Industrial Area Police Station under the Occurrence Book (OB) Number-OB65/27/3/2019.

Lukige is allegedly preparing to fly to Macedonia for a trial with a football team in the league.

According to a Standard Media Publication (Game Yetu), the officers in pursuit report that the footballer was last seen along Waiyaki Way before he went off the radar.

We last tracked his phone record along Waiyaki Way but he went off the radar. We are pursuing him and very soon he will be arrested,” the officer told Game Yetu

Lukige is currently attached to second-tier side Fortune Sacco.
