Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi will hold a top position in his party, which will be launched in May.

Speaking at Weru TV on Sunday, the former deputy president stated that the party will be unveiled soon, but a subsequent launch party will be held, inviting all Kenyans before the end of the month.

"Linturi will have a very big seat in my party that I will be launching soon. I will be unveiling the party shortly, and then we will have a very big launch before the end of the month. It will be a colourful and big launch," he stated.

"We will invite people to come from all over the country. It will be a national party. It will represent every Kenyan and will have the face of Kenya. It is a good party."

According to Gachagua, the party is aiming to front candidates in the upcoming by-elections by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

After the elections, Gachagua announced that the party officials would then embark on a nationwide tour to sell the party and recruit members.

He added that the party's priority will not be revealing its manifesto but familiarising itself with Kenyans, as the manifesto will be unveiled before the 2027 General Elections.

When prompted whether the former President Uhuru Kenyatta would hold any seat in the party, Gachagua stated that he would only be utilised to offer counsel.

"Uhuru Kenyatta is our leader; he is retired, and we want to allow him to enjoy his retirement. What we need from Uhuru Kenyatta, constantly, is his blessings and advice. When we do that, it's always available, but we don't want to disturb him," Gachagua stated.

"I see Ruto sending his cronies from Rift Valley to insult him, but we want to tell William Ruto, 'You insulted Uhuru enough. Do not send those young people. Be man enough and insult Uhuru Kenyatta, and then we will face you. Let him enjoy his retirement."

During the interview, Gachagua declared his presidential bid in 2027 through a ticket from his soon-to-be-launched party with the sole motive of unseating President Ruto.

He also stated that his fellow opposition movement leaders like Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Fred Matiang'i would also vie for the same position, but one would be ultimately chosen to be the flagbearer, bringing together all their supporters with an aim of winning with a 70+1 margin.
