Migori Governor Okoth Obado will on Friday stay away from a function presided by his party leader Raila Amolo Odinga.
Raila is expected to be in Awendo, Migori county to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony of a Kenya Medical Training College in the area.
Obado had to excuse himself from the function citing court restrictions that limit his movement.
“I would have wished to join Raila Odinga and the people of Awendo in the commissioning of the KMTC.
"Unfortunately the orders given by the court in the Sharon Otieno murder case bar me from stepping into Awendo town because of its proximity to Homa Bay County,” the Governor explained at a Press briefing on Thursday, April 4.
Obado, however, expressed optimism that one day he will have his freedom to access every part of his county and beyond.
Awendo MP Walter Owino has confirmed that the AU envoy will visit the constituency to inspect various projects.
Obado also took the opportunity to defend Justice Jackton Ojwang’ over claims that he benefited from the upgrade of a road leading to his home.
The governor went on to claim that the road was public and used by many residents of the area.
“Justice Ojwang’ is being fought unnecessarily by individuals who have their own self missions to achieve,” Obado added.
The governor stated that he was willing and ready to appear before the tribunal formed to probe Justice Ojwang’ so that the can shed light into the matter.
