Journalist Loses Ksh3 Million in Fake Car Deal

James Onyango, a Nairobi-based sub-editor for the Daily Nation, is said to have lost Ksh3 million to hotelier Emmanuel Mulobi Musebe.

Musebe reportedly acquired the funds from the journalist in false pretense by leading Onyango to believe that he could sell him a car.

The vehicle in question was a Range Rover registration number KBU 220Q, a fact that he knew was false.

The offense was committed between March and August 0f 2018 in Kilimani area, Nairobi.

Musebe, who is the owner of Nyumbani Gardens and Treasure Gardens was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi on Monday, April 8.

According to the charge sheet, the accused was charged with intent to defraud Ksh3.2 million from the victim pretending he was able to sell him the said car.

The accused was released on a bond of Ksh2 million and a surety of the same amount or a cash bail of Ksh 500,000.

The case will be mentioned on April 23, 2019.

In other news, pastor James Maina Ng'ang'a, who was charged in a Nairobi court over defrauding a businessman of Ksh3.6 million, was discharged on a Ksh 500,000 cash bail.
