Police Officer Killed After Shooting Former KDF Boss

A police officer, Sergeant Gabriel Echwa Ewalan of Lokwamosing police station was shot dead in Turkana East sub-county after he shot a former County official.

Ewalan had gone to the Rtd Major Daniel Ing'olan's house, whom he shot before his relative saw him and shot him dead.

Turkana central OCPD David Mborokwa confirmed the incident that happened in Kanamkemer, Lodwar, on Monday night.

“Ewalan was in charge of the armory and had gone to the homestead of Daniel Ing’olan as a guest, upon arrival, the sergeant opened fire on the 51-year-old retired major and shot him in the right hand and left leg,” Mborokwa stated.

Mborokwa narrated that the General's relative managed to snatch the pistol from Ewalan and shot him dead.

Reports by The Standard indicate that the retired County official was rushed to the Lodwar County and Referral Hospital where he was admitted.

The General, who is the former Turkana Public Service and Disaster Management Chief Officer, was admitted in a relatively stable condition.

On the other hand, the body of the deceased was taken to the morgue at the same facility.

The motive of the shooting is yet to be established.
