Former CNN Presenter Soni Methu Dies

Former CNN presenter, Soni Methu, died in Diani, Kwale County on Thursday night.

Reports by Daily Nation indicate Methu's younger sister, Faith Methu narrated that the former 'Inside Africa' presenter was fine until 6pm when she encountered a writhing pain.

“She was well until 6pm, when she cried as if she was in deep pain. She, thereafter, clutched her stomach before collapsing," Faith told eDaily.

She continued stating that the 35-year-old looked like she was having a seizure and was rushed to hospital.

However, she did not make it to the hospital as she died on the way.

“We do not know much on what caused her death, but a postmortem examination will be done to exactly establish what happened,” she added.

Soni has been eulogised by the media fraternity on social media pages.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing on of my good friend and former colleague Soni Methu last evening. May the Lord grant your soul eternal peace! RIPSoni!” Nick Oloo tweeted.

She worked at CNN before moving to CGTN in 2016 after her former employer changed the format of the show she was presenting, Africa Insight.

The late Soni was a Strathmore University alumnus who started her career at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation in a drama called Hila and also presented Taj Show.
