Groove Awards is Back, But With a Huge Twist!

The biggest Gospel Awards show in the East African region is back!

15 years since its first edition, the popular annual awards show has moved from strength to strength giving gospel artists a platform to grow their music.

Groove Awards 2019 will adopt a new system of submission of artists for nomination which was first introduced to the public last year that saw several new entries into the game.

The process is self-guided as it has a breakdown of every category and this allows the public to vote for their preferred artists based on the criteria as per the category.

This year, there are rules that have put a twist on who is viable to be nominated for qualification.

General Ground Rules for all categories stipulate that the music must be positive gospel music, of good sound quality and must have been commercially released in Kenya within the Eligibility Year (April 1st 2018 to March 31st 2019) through recognized distribution channels.

In addition, for one to be nominated, the artist must live a Christian lifestyle.

The Artist and Song of the Year categories are arguably the most competitive categories and for this year, the nomination criteria for both has been switched up.

For the Artist of the Year, the artist should be hugely popular and have considerable appeal across the country and must have at least two songs that have received significant airplay across various mainstream media platforms.
