Parents Sue School for Suspending Daughter Over Daydreaming

Parents of a student at Moi Girls High School Nairobi have sued the school for allegedly suspending their daughter for daydreaming.

They claim their daughter was being discriminated against after she was sent home for what the school administration described as ‘daydreaming’.

Through their lawyer, the couple stated that the school could not substantiate the information as the case was wholly circumstantial.

According to Hot96, the parents have gone to court to seek compensation for the amount of time their daughter has been away from school.

The school has been on the spot over the past few years from cases that relate to insecurity.

It is alleged that in 2018, a girl was raped within the school compound leading to the parents withdrawing their children.

The incident saw several male employees of the school including teachers provide their DNA for analysis during the investigation.

The school also experienced a fire in 2017 that left 10 girls dead and scores others injured.

Despite the issues, the school has risen to post remarkable results in the national exams.

The school was yet to respond to the accusations on the suspension.
