Uhuru Handpicked Raila as Successor During China Visit - Uriri MP

Uriri Member of Parliament (MP)- Mark Nyamita, revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta has chosen ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, as his successor once his final term comes to an end in 2022.

Speaking at a funeral in his constituency over the weekend, Mr Nyamita claimed that President Uhuru had taken Raila with him to China to re-assure Kenya's biggest lenders that the next President (Raila Odinga), was fully committed to repaying the loans.

"The two leaders went to China not just to secure loans but to also assure our brothers in China that come transition period, there would be a safe pair of hands to pay back the whole debt," he remarked.

He added that the trip was proof that Uhuru and Raila had ironed out succession plans that would see the ODM party leader ascend to the highest office in the land.

Mr Nyamita went on to criticise leaders affiliated to Deputy President (DP) William Ruto for allegedly trying to block development projects in Western Kenya such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension to Kisumu that has recently stalled.

"We, as a region, have been left out in the cold despite the fact that our taxes are still being used to cover these loans meant for national development," the MP divulged.

North Kanyamkago MCA and Migori County Deputy Speaker- George Omamba, also present at the function, echoed the MP's sentiments and added that the region was being victimized when it came to development projects.

"Why is it that when news breaks that the SGR extension is set to reach Kisumu, these talks of debts and burden to the economy start cropping from DP Ruto's camp? Are we not Kenyans?" he queried.

President Uhuru and his delegates had announced various new deals that had been struck between Kenya and China following their recent visit.

His affordable housing project won big during the trip, with Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, James Macharia, revealing that 11 Chinese companies had expressed interest in financing the project.
