All one has to do is register and then you are given a WiFi router that will enable you to have wireless and LAN internet access.

Currently, Safaricom home fibre packages are categorized based on speed and prices.

The fibre eliminates the need to use cables so you can worry less about adverse weather conditions affecting your speed.

The packages are grouped into four categories from bronze, silver, gold to diamond. The following are the current



1. Bronze



Bronze has a speed of 5 MBPS and a monthly cost of Ksh 2,900.



With this package, you get Basic web surfing, moderate speed music, and movie downloads, Email, Social Media and Standard Definition (SD) video. 

2. Silver



Silver has a speed of 10 MBPS and a monthly cost of Ksh 3,999.

With the silver package, you will access web surfing, email, unlimited internet usage and you’ll be able to stream on YouTube and download music and movies. 



3. Gold

While bronze and silver packages allow you to watch only SD videos, with Gold which has a speed of 20 MBPS and cost Ksh 5,699 per month.



You will be able to access High Definition Music, videos, and movies. Another great advantage of the silver package is that with the high internet speed you can easily venture into e-learning without encountering any buffering problems. 

4. Diamond



Diamond has a speed of 40 MBPS and costs Ksh 11,499.

This package allows you to run multiple activities, venture into any online course and stream any ultra-high-definition content. When you pay for this monthly package, you can also install HD video surveillance to boost security in your home. 

What is the connection process? 



Safaricom fibre home internet connection process is straightforward and quick.



It entails sending a message to 400 with the word 'Fibre', and a Safaricom team will call you.



They will then ask for your personal details like full name, ID number, email address, house number and the package you want. You will then receive an SMS with an account number for making payments.



After making the payment, you will receive another SMS telling you when the installer will arrive at your house. The technical team will arrive at your home within two days. 

Safaricom fibre Location coverage 



Safaricom’s home fibre service has been connected to more than 213,000 homes across the country and is available in Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Thika, Bungoma, Kitale, Nyeri, and Nanyuki among other towns.



In Nairobi, the service is available in Nyayo Estate, Imara Daima, South B, Langata Estate, Ongata Rongai, Kiambu Road, Ruaka, Runda, Parklands, Westlands, Kileleshwa, Mountain View, Kinoo and Kikuyu among other estates.

To check if your home is located in an area with Safaricom home fibre all you have to do is dial *400#.



Next, choose the option that says Get Safaricom Home fibre, then key in the name of your town then your estate name and finally your nearest landmark. A Safaricom customer care will then get in touch with you.

You can also check your area via the Safaricom official website. 

How to register for Safaricom home fibre



As soon as you verify that your area has Safaricom fibre to home coverage, the next step is to register so that you can get the internet package that you want.



For the registration process, you will need to fill an application form and attach a copy of your ID or passport.



Safaricom will issue you an account number from which you will use to make payments.



After payment confirmation, you will receive an SMS with your Wi-Fi password and username which you will use to connect all your devices.

How to pay or renew your package



You can renew or pay for Safaricom home fibre using two methods: By visiting their nearest retail shop or at the comfort of your home using via Mpesa.



The Safaricom home fibre payment via Mpesa payment method is brilliant because a majority of the population send, receive money and make various payments using Mpesa.



Days before the expiry date, Safaricom team will notify you of the expiry date through an SMS.

How to upgrade your current Safaricom home fibre



You can upgrade to a new Safaricom home fibre internet package if you feel that you need more internet speed.



Here is how to upgrade your current Safaricom home fibre:



1. Dial *400#



2. Choose the option that says change subscription



3. Select the service package that you prefer



4. Pay the package amount via Mpesa, and you will be automatically upgraded. 

How to terminate your internet service



If you’re leaving the country or have less use for the Safaricom home fibre, then you can easily terminate your subscription by sending an email with your registration details to Safaricom with details stating that you want the service canceled.

If your browsing experience is pedestrian at best, Bronze will be fine for you.



If you need a little flexibility, bearing in mind that downloads will be limited to a single device, then Silver is the plan for you.
