The prime suspect in Monica Kimani's murder, Joseph Irungu alias Jowie has made a fresh application seeking to be released on bail.
Through his lawyer, David Ayuo, Irungu promised the court that he will adhere to a couple of things that had been mentioned when he was denied bail by Justice James Wakiaga.
Irungu stated that his parents were willing to host him at their home in Nakuru.
"My parents are ready and willing to accommodate me at our home in Nakuru during the pendency of this trial," he stated.
He indicated that he will not interfere with any of the witnesses if released, adding that the witnesses are under protection.
The accused also stated that he will make sure he attends court whenever he is required to make an appearance.
This is the third time Irungu is applying for bail after being in Kamiti Maximum Prison since October 2018 following the chilling murder of the business lady.
Justice Wakiaga had denied him bail citing that he had no known assets in the country, no known address and was likely to abscond court if freed on bail since he had not held a job in the country apart from being a security detail of VIPs during the last election.
“The first accused is a male version of a slay queen. I would describe him as a woman eater,” Justice James Wakiaga had stated while denying Jowie bail.
Irungu and his co-accused, Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe are suspects in the murder of Monica Kimani, a business lady who was brutally murdered at her Lamuria Gardens Apartment in Kilimani on the night of September 19, 2018.
