Two people are feared to have succumbed to their injuries after a head-on collision between a Toyota Probox and another private vehicle along the Kibwezi-Kitui highway.

Reportedly, the crash led to both vehicles spontaneously going up in flames, leaving several other people injured.

The accident occurred in the Sekea area of the highway.

The Probox was travelling from Kitui, while the other vehicle, suspected to be a V8, was heading from Mutomo towards Kitui when the crash happened.

In images obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, bright orange flames can be seen emanating from both cars on the side of the highway.

The aftermath is vehicles burned almost beyond recognition, especially on the inside. Another image shows the damage sustained to the front of one of the vehicles involved.

In a similar crash just over a month ago, another head-on collision led to both vehicles bursting into flames.

On the night of October 14, the crash, involving two trailers, happened a few metres from Turbo Market along the Eldoret–Malaba highway.

Two people succumbed to this accident as well.

According to a witness, one of the lorries was attempting to overtake on a hill while the other truck approached at high speed from the opposite direction.

A month before the Turbo accident, one person died and two others were injured after a vehicle lost control and crashed before catching fire near the Majengo area, along the Kisumu–Kakamega Highway.

The vehicle had reportedly veered off the road and burst into flames on impact.
