Senator Andrew Lang’at's Guard Arrested After Mysteriously Losing Gun

Bomet Senator Andrew Lang’at's bodyguard was arrested and charged after mysteriously losing his gun, a Ceska Pistol.

According to a report by The Standard, the bodyguard identified as Peter Sigei, reportedly lost the gun on April 29 within Embakasi Pipeline area.

The prosecution accused Sigei, who is an Administration Police officer, of failing to ensure the safety of his pistol which is one of his mandates.

In his defence, however, the AP told the court that he was attacked by a gang of four people who then robbed him the gun together with 12 rounds of ammunition in the early morning scuffle.

He later reported the incident at Embakasi police station but he only indicated that he had lost the gun.

In January this year, a police officer was suspended after losing a Ceska pistol that had been assigned to him.

The officer, who was identified as Charles Nyakeya, reportedly lost the firearm on Monday, January 9 during a bathroom break.

According to a police report released at the time, Nyakeya forgot the pistol - which had 15 rounds of ammunition - on top of the cistern while relieving himself.

Upon realizing that he had left the gun behind, the officer rushed back to the toilet to look for it but couldn’t find it.

It is then that they decided to conduct a search around the toilet and within the workplace but their efforts bore no fruits.
