The Director of Criminal Investigations has thoroughly searched a suspicious vehicle that had been parked near Nairobi Hospital for a couple of days after netizens raised an eyebrow about it.
On its Twitter page, the DCI assured netizens that the vehicle should not be a source of worry, adding that it belongs to a freelance journalist based in South Sudan.
"Detectives acted swiftly on receiving information about a suspicious vehicle that had been parked near Nairobi Hospital for a couple of days. Vehicle thoroughly searched by #CSI personnel and nothing suspicious found," part of the tweet read.
The investigation body also noted that the vehicle had been detained for further analysis.
During the Dusit D2 attack that happened in January 2019, one of the suspects responsible for the attack had visited the building at least two times before the incident.
A witness claimed that during the first time he spotted the vehicle, the driver asked him to watch over it.
He added that the alleged attacker parked the car at the side park, he then got into Dusit D2 and ordered a cup of coffee. The suspect also visited the hotel again according to the witness.
In another incident in Nyeri, a vehicle with number plates similar to that used by terrorists in the attack was spotted in the town, causing panic among residents.
The vehicle was parked outside the Postal Corporation Offices when residents took to social media noting it had been occupied by four men.
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu lauded residents for their alertness.
