Raila's Silence Leaves ODM Confused on 2022 Deal With Uhuru

ODM leader Raila Odinga’s silence over his position in the 2022 General Election has left the party's top management at limbo.

Most party officials are unaware of their leader’s position on running for the 2022 presidency leaving them confused on whether to groom a successor or not.

“He has been a pillar for the last 13 years, now we can only ask God to give him strength and wisdom to keep leading our party and country,” Judith Pareno, a nominated senator stated.

The confusion is furthered by the utterances of leaders from President Uhuru Kenyatta's backyard in Central over a possible Kenyatta-Raila deal.

This revelation was brought to light after a committee was formed by the party to investigate the reason it lost in the recent by-elections in Ugenya and Embakasi which sparked murmurs.

These concerns brought to question the survivability of the party with Odinga’s absence.

The task force, led by Catherine Mumma, accused the party of shooting itself in the foot by holding chaotic primaries and proposed major changes before focusing on the 2022 polls.

However, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna denied the notion and stated that the AU envoy is not too preoccupied with his new role to run the party.

“Our party leader is not too busy for his party he is always around and there is nothing to be worried about because he is fully in control of the situation,” Sifuna assured

Daily Nation reported that the situation was worsened by Uhuru's perceived reluctance to stop politicians in his camp from attacking his handshake and Raila.
