Drug Dealer Ditches Ksh4.2 Million Bhang in Daring Escape

An unidentified drug dealer had to ditch Ksh4.2 million bhang at a petrol station in Londiani in a bid to escape a dramatic police car chase.

The saga started at a police roadblock on the Kericho-Nakuru highway on Saturday morning after the suspected drug dealer made an emergency U-turn which caught the interest of the officers prompting a car chase.

The driver later escaped on foot after ditching the vehicle and narrowly escaped arrest as the police could not trace him.

Londiani Deputy Commissioner Festus Munyao confirmed the incident, stating that the bhang which weighed 223kg in airtight bags was being transported towards Nakuru.

The car was towed to Londiani Police Station.

“We don’t who the owner of the vehicle is, but we have forwarded the vehicle’s details to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to track him,” Munyao affirmed.

According to Munyao, the hunt for the suspect was already on so as to identify the faces behind the consignment.

“We (the Police) are aware that traffickers use private cars to transport drugs. Drug dealers will not escape police scrutiny as we are on a high alert,” stated Munyao.

The incident came barely three weeks after another Ksh4.9 million bhang was seized in Ainamoi Constituency.

Police have been keen on nailing drug dealers as another raid was made on a petroleum tanker transporting the commodity to Nairobi earlier this month.
