President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday gifted Kamacharia Girls Secondary School with a brand new 52-seater bus as well as an assortment of indigenous tree seedlings.
Uhuru was playing the role of the host as the schoolgirls accompanied by their teachers and members of the school's board were invited to State House.
The president urged the young school girls to work hard in their studies, adding that they should avoid sexual overtures from any would-be detractors.
“Work hard, be diligent. You have a long way to go. Let us not be in a rush, there is no need to rush be focused in your studies,” he remarked.
Mathioya Member of Parliament (MP), Peter Kimari Kihara, who had also accompanied the special guests, thanked Uhuru for his generosity.
The MP also declared his appreciation for Ksh150 million allocated for the upgrading of Mathioya Technical College by the national government, saying the institution is key to the future wellbeing of the youth in his constituency.
Uhuru went on to encourage the young girls to focus and challenged them to produce stellar results at the end of the year.
He also pointed out that the indigenous seedlings were meant to spur them to be champions in the environmental conservation campaign.
The Jubilee party leader affirmed his government's push to ensure that all children within the republic were enrolled in school so as to ensure a brighter future for the nation.
"We will continue investing in the expansion of school infrastructure to ensure that all Kenyan children have access to education," Uhuru asserted.
