MPs Declare War on Matiang'i's PS for Disrespecting DP Ruto

Members of the National Assembly who are allied to Deputy President William Ruto have reportedly declared war on Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho who serves under CS Fred Matiang'i.

If a report by People Daily is anything to go by, the MPs have allegedly appended their signature to a list in support of the impeachment of the PS.

The MPs reportedly shifted their focus from earlier talk of impeaching CS Matiang'i himself to his PS since the move would scuttle Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions as he is reportedly eying the Kisii voting block.

Quoting a source knowledgeable with the matter, the local daily explained that the MPs resorted to the impeachment option because he disrespected the DP.

This comes a week after the DP and the PS reportedly had a confrontation at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) while they had gone to received President Uhuru Kenyatta back into the country.

For about 15 minutes, the DP, who was seemingly angry, confronted the PS on claims that he instructed county commissioners and police commanders to shun his functions.

Ruto, at the time, claimed that Kibicho used his office to control administrators in an effort to frustrate his 2022 presidential bid.

The drama reportedly began immediately the DP arrived at the airport and went straight to Kibicho after spotting him.

So serious was the situation that the president was forced to intervene demanding an explanation over what really happened during the incident.

It was established that the two leaders have been at loggerheads for a while now and their JKIA altercation almost culminated into a fist fight.
