4 Parties Support Kalonzo's 2017 Presidential Bid

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's presidential bid has received a major boost following a decision arrived at during a private meeting held on Thursday.

Musyoka, who has insisted on being the National Super Alliance (NASA) flagbearer, was supported by four party leaders from the Ukambani.

Top among the leaders was his political rival in the lower Eastern region Charity Ngilu who heads the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC).

In what seems to be an attempt to consolidate the Opposition's support in the region, the leaders vowed to unite and throw their weight behind the NASA co-principal.

The other leaders included Mutua Katuku of People's Trust Party, Makueni Governor and Muungano Party leader Kivutha Kibwana and Wavinya Ndeti of Chama Cha Uzalendo.

The meeting is said to have been held at a Nairobi hotel where Musyoka welcomed the leaders' decision to work together.

The Wiper chief has on several occasions maintained that he would be on the presidential ballot paper come the August 8 General Election.

However, the Opposition's flag bearer is yet to be unveiled with talks to come up with the most suitable candidate still ongoing.
