How to Cross Nairobi Roads With The New Automated Technology [VIDEO]

Nairobi has joined the league of international cities in matters traffic, following its recent adoption of an advanced crosswalks technology that helps pedestrians cross busy roads in the action-packed city.

Utilization of the automated pedestrian detection device has been a great success in Europe and now has been installed in some parts of the capital.

The devices were installed on Sunday with security personnel appointed to teach pedestrians how to use the new technology.

In addition, these officers will ensure compliance by all motorists who are always in a hurry to drive through zebra crossings with complete disregard to the traffic lights.

This is how the new traffic system works; one needs to identify the push button and press it.

Immediately you push the crosswalk  button, it sends a signal that there is someone who wants to cross the street.

One has to wait as the lights adjust, after a few seconds, depending on the signal settings and the level of traffic.

When the light turns green, pedestrians have enough time to cross the road with relative ease.

This greatly reduces the waiting time that pedestrians initially had to wait before the traffic lights changed.

There have been concerns raised by the pedestrians over the compliance of motorists to the traffic lights, as some still pass the safe zones when the lights are green without regard to the new system.
