There was a light moment during the Madaraka Day fete on Saturday when ODM leader Raila Odinga forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to shake hands with Siaya Senator James Orengo.
Uhuru arrived at Narok Stadium shortly after 11am and greeted top officials in attendance, including Deputy President William Ruto, AU envoy Raila Odinga, Majority Leader Aden Duale, host and Narok Governor Samuel Tunai and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Before taking his seat, however, Raila tapped him on the shoulder signaling that he had forgotten to greet Orengo who was seated on the second row.
The moment immediately sparked laughter from the crowd who were amused even as Uhuru headed back to his seat.
Meanwhile, security was tight as police officers patrolled the area.
A 22-year-old man was arrested in the morning while trying to sneak into the stadium.
Nation reported that Adan Galhai, who is also known Urisha Galhai, had been arrested by KDF soldiers on Friday but he got away.
A police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that Galhai, who is suspected to have links with deadly terror group Al Shabaab, was posing as a security officer.
“He wanted to enter the stadium on Friday and when searched, his National Identity Card and another Identity Card written as National Security were recovered from him. When he was being questioned about the same he escaped,” the statement reads in part.
