Govt Clarifies on Ksh1.5 Billion Madaraka Day Allocation Reports

Kenyans have been in awe of the Narok County Commissioner George Natembeya, after a tweet that went viral claimed that he had spent Ksh300 million of Ksh1.5 billion, for the preparation of the national fete hosted in the area on June 1.

The claims were first posted by Lemayian Kereto on his social media platforms.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the county commissioner clarified that the reports were misleading.

''It is true that we spent less than Ksh 300 million but it is not true that we were allocated that amount (Ksh1.5 billion) which is doing rounds on social media,'' he explained.

He oversaw the county's facelift that many citizens noted and appreciated.

Five roads were totally reconstructed and tarmacked with the construction of the Transit - Old Bridge road still ongoing but will be completed soon.

The drainage system on Government Road was also repaired.

A brand new stadium with terraces for VIPs as well as citizens was constructed in preparation for the big day.

The county commissioner's residence was built and the home of his deputy also received a complete renovation and perimeter wall raised to guard the area.

''All the construction works done in the preparations gobbled up less than Ksh300 million,'' Natembeya confirmed.
