Raila Attacks Foreign Fake News Firm in London

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has yet again attacked a British consulting firm, Cambridge Analytica for spreading hate speech messages against him.

Speaking during the Chatham House conference in London on Monday, Raila accused the firm of tarnishing his name during the 2017 elections.

"I have been a victim of these fake news. The international community has failed to rein in them.

"Cambridge Analytica were running a platform where anytime you opened a page you would see my picture there with very negative stories. Once the campaigns were over, you could not see those pages, making it difficult to seek legal redress," Raila stated.

The opposition leader explained how voters were fed with apocalyptic messages that painted him in bad light.

Earlier reports had indicated that the firm was in charge of running President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaigns in 2013 and 2017.

Cambridge Analytica, however, denied that they had done anything wrong.

In August 2018, President Uhuru strongly denied any ties with controversial marketing research firm Cambridge Analytica.

Speaking during an interview on CNN, the Head of State had insisted that he had no knowledge of any engagement with the firm.

“I hear it on your news media….you need to just look at the speeches that we were making across the country and tell me what speech has been written by them," he stated.
