A senior government official was on Monday arraigned in court and charged with attempted fraud.
Dr. Jonah Onentiah Magare, a senior Health Ministry official, was accused of attempting to defraud his father of land valued at Ksh20million.
The medic denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi at the Milimani Law Courts.
Magare and his mother Mary Moraa were accused of forging a letter of authority to transfer the lease title and register the land afresh.
He forged the letter dated February 28, 2011, supposedly written by the complainant said to have authorised the transfer of the title deed to the son.
The court heard that the mother and son combo tried to defraud the landowner on or before March 5, 2011.
According to the charge sheet, the medic conspired with his mother, who had been charged earlier, to defraud the older Magare of the parcel of land in Donholm area, Nairobi.
The court documents also revealed that the medic was not the biological son of the complainant.
Mangare is also facing charges of obtaining registration of land by false pretense.
The complainant Joshua Magare is a retired chief accountant with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The accused was released on a Ksh1 million bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 500,000 same to his mother who is facing the same charges.
