Man Hacks Son to Death 2 Months After Leaving Kamiti Prison

An ex-convict allegedly hacked his son to death just two months after he was released from Kamiti prison after serving a 5-year jail term.

The man, David Chelule, 40, reportedly hacked the boy using a panga at their home in Kaptilolwo Village, Bomet County.

According to witnesses, Chelule suspected that the 2-year-old boy was not his son and that his wife had cheated on him while he was in prison.

The mother was not at home at the time the heinous act took place.

Confirming the incident, Sotik Sub-county Deputy Police Commander Francis Ng’ang’a disclosed that the deceased's body was found lying in a pool of blood.

It was moved to Kapkatet mortuary.

The suspect was locked up at Kamiti prison for five years after he was found guilty of attempting to kill his brother's son.

He was arrested and taken to Sotik Police Station where he is waiting to be arraigned in court.

In January 2018, another ex-convict was stoned to death after he reportedly killed a 5-year-old boy at Muragara village in Tharaka Nithi County.

The suspect, Eliud Mwenda Ndubi, had been set free just two weeks after serving a jail term for threatening to kill a villager.
