President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday afternoon gifted Pangani Girls students with Ksh1 Million for lunch.
Uhuru, who was represented by the Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, awarded the girls the money during the prize giving day.
The announcement sent the students into a frenzy of cheers and excitement.
The president, who is yet to return to the country after a five day trip to Canada for a gender equity conference informed, rewarded the girls for the school's good performance in the 2018 KCSE.
During the same speech, Matiang’i informed the students and the principal that Uhuru had promised to make up for missing the event with a visit to the school before the August holidays.
The CS handed the money to the school captain in cash which had been wrapped in a brown bag in the presence of the school principal.
Matiangi reiterated the Presidents commitment in investing in the youth of the country stating that they are the backbone of the economy and the future of the republic.
He also stated that the government would not consider the lowering of the age of sexual consent as suggested by other members of parliament from 18 years to 16 years.
Matiang'i also announced a donation of Ksh50 million to the school from the Ministry of Education for the school to complete the ongoing projects.
He also congratulated the school choir for the songs they sang during the entertainment section of the event and accepted their challenge of buying musical equipment.
Together with his colleagues and the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambi, they donated musical instrument worth Ksh500,000 to the choir.
