Dreaded Drug Addict Stones Mother to Death Over Glass of Water

Emotions ran high in Methi Village, Maragua Constituency, after a 56-year-old woman was stoned to death by his 30-year-old son only identified as Ngugi, who is known to be hooked to drugs and substance abuse.

The elderly mother, Ms Sarah Wambui, met her demise when her son came home and demanded for a glass of water.

Upon the woman's arrival to the door, the irate addict bashed her to the door and threw stones at her severally then fled from the house.

Area residents rushed in after they heard the victim's calls of distress and found her lying in a pool of blood.

Shocked locals confided to the reporter on the ground that the suspect was a very feared drug addict who no one dared cross paths with.

Eunice Wangui, a resident, confirmed this sentiment and telling Nation that the suspect was dreaded by the villagers.

“The suspect abuses drugs and is feared by many, he hit his mother with stones and fled,” Ms Wangui added.

Ms Wambui, who was also a pastor at a local church, was described as a loving and responsible woman who brought up her children diligently after the death of her husband years ago.

A friend to the suspect stated that Ngugi had vowed to kill someone that day.

Residents in the area fear for their lives as most young people are addicts.

“We have complained about rampant drug abuse among the youth to the authorities. Even after being shown where drug users convene to take bhang, no action has been taken, we now fear or our lives,” lamented a resident.

Murang'a county commissioner Josephat Kinyua gave a report on the incidence and the suspect is already nabbed in police custody.

"The suspect is in our custody, preliminary investigations show that he could be mentally unstable, perhaps, due to drug abuse. However, we are seeking to establish the motive behind the murder,” he said.
