Man Sprays 3 Children With Bullets in Search of Estranged Wife

A family feud in Elgeyo Marakwet Kapker Village, Embolot location, left three children dead after a man sprayed his in law’s house with bullets.

Area residents reported that the suspect stormed into his parents in law’s compound in search of his estranged wife and failing to find her angered him.

He then proceeded to spray the house with bullets where six children and an adult were sleeping in one room killing three of the children on the spot.

Area Chief Bethuel Kipkore noted that the suspect, identified as David Yano, arrived at the in-laws’ home at midnight on Monday and demanded to see his wife Nancy Jebet.

According to Kipkore, the suspect walked about 15 kilometers from Tot in the Kerio Valley to the in-laws' home in pursuit of the estranged wife.

The Standard reported that after the incident, the man is claimed to have fled into the darkness.

The chief added that one of the deceased children was Yano’s stepdaughter aged four and the other two aged seven and ten were Jebet’s younger sister and brother.

The attack also left three other children and the adult injured.

One of the injured is a pre-primary school learner at Kapchebau Primary School while another one is a form one student at Tot Mixed Day School. They were rushed to Kapsowar Mission Hospital,” Kipkore affirmed.

The chief also added that the police had already launched a manhunt for the suspect.
