Armed Student Shot After Jumping Across State House Fence

An armed university student was shot and injured by police officers after he reportedly jumped over State House fence.

According to witnesses, the suspect, identified as Brian Kibet Bera, was carrying a knife when he was caught by the authorities.

A report obtained by Kenyans.co.ke from Kileleshwa Police Station indicated that the suspect trespassed into State House on Monday at 4pm by climbing over "Gate Bravo" and after getting challenged by the officers manning the area, he drew out his knife.

This prompted the officers to fire at him and he sustained a gunshot wound on the left shoulder plate.

On the suspect, the officers recovered an Identification Card bearing his name and age, 25 years, and a student ID card of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

He was booked at Kileleshwa Police Station before being escorted to KNH for treatment.

Capital FM reported that the assailant had previously posted a number of threats on Facebook.

Kibet is a Fifth-year student of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Background research carried by Kenyans.co.ke unearthed a Facebook account by the name, Brian Bera, that contained threatening messages to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

To justify his action, the owner of the account threatened on June 9 that he would attack State House as a means of passing judgment as he was instructed by God.
