Kenyans were wowed by the surprise of an official welcome party that members of the Jubilee Party organized for former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale during a popular morning TV show.
During NTV's AM Live show hosted by Debarl Inea, Kiambu Senator and his Kericho counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot unveiled their plans to an unsuspecting Khalwale. The show host looked at Khalwale and told him that there was something cooking planned by his newly founded allies.
"We have Senator Aaron Cheruiyot and Wamatangi who have been looking forward to welcoming you to Jubilee party. We saw you crossing over from the NASA camp and joining their side. The deputy president gave you a cap but they also have lots of gifts prepared for you." Debarl informed Khalwale.
It is at this point that a lady who had been hiding showed up with a box of cake and a package that had an official embroidered Jubilee shirt and a cap.
The former legislator was shocked as he rose from his chair to look at the pleasant gifts set before him. He was hugged by the two senators who gave him a warm handshake and welcomed him to the nation's ruling party.
"We are very glad to take this opportunity to officially welcome you to Jubilee." the elated senators told Boni.
A special message was written for Khalwale on the cake: "Welcome to Jubilee party bullfighter."
"In football, we have what is called the transfer season. Right now we have the brave senator (Khalwale) crossing over from the opposition to our side." Aaron Cheruiyot joked.
ODM Legislator Atiende Omollo and Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo who had been invited to discuss political issues in the show laughed heartedly at this point.
"To Otiende and Jakoyo, if you want to make the future of this country great, it can only be from this side (Jubilee)." Cheruiyot challenged the opposition-affiliated legislators who brushed the jibe aside with more laughter.
Khalwale posed for photos while holding his newly gifted shirt amidst traditional welcome songs by Senator Wamatangi.
