The trial of Jackie Maribe, and Joseph Irungu (popularly known as Jowie) regarding the brutal murder of businesswoman, Monica Kimani took a new turn on Tuesday.
This was after the Assistant Director of Public Prosecution, Catherine Mwaniki unleashed her war chest which reportedly comprised of 33 key witnesses according to The Star, while the Nation claimed 32 as the final figure.
She was speaking before Justice John Wakiaga who was presented with a copy of the witness list.
Mwaniki also disclosed that her team was in possession of photographic as well as video evidence that would prove their case.
The prosecutor further declared that the list included four protected witnesses and five experts who had been chosen to contribute their opinions pertaining to specific details about the case.
Mwaniki was adamant that Irungu should not be released under any circumstances as she felt that he would interfere with the ongoing investigations.
Both suspects had denied the offence that was committed on September 19, 2018, at Lamuria Apartments in Kilimani.
The TV journalist was however released on bond but her boyfriend at the time, Jowie, was denied bail and thus has been stuck in remand to date.
He has since requested for a review of the bail decision with a response to his latest application expected to be made on June 18, 2019.
Their trial, on the other hand, is expected to commence on June 25, 2019, during which the entire roster of witnessess will be allowed to testify.
