NTSA Addresses Breach of Data Privacy

Following growing concerns over the breach of data privacy by some motorists, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has come out to clear the air.

In a statement, the Authority detailed information that is usually made public during a search on the ownership of a vehicle.

According to NTSA, should an individual seek to know the owner of a particular vehicle, they will be provided with the name of the owner of the vehicle, their KRA PIN and other charges.

On the other hand, details of the vehicles are also listed in the copy of records.

"The copy of records provides the details of the registered owners of a vehicle/motorcycle.

"A public copy of the record is accessible online and it highlights all the particulars of the vehicle/motorcycle including Chassis number, model, engine number, entry number, fuel type, logbook number, registration date, and caveat status among other details," read the statement in part.

Contrary to reports, NTSA clarified that it does not provide other personal details of the vehicle’s owner.

"Note that the motor vehicle copy of records does not reveal the email address, ID number and phone number of the registered owner," read the statement in part.

NTSA issued the statement after a section of Kenyans raised concerns over the safety of their data given that the online search is open to the public.

Guess Who

Can you guess who said these words?

"Ruto got elected because he was advocating for hustlers. The price of unga has come down to Ksh110. Fuel has dropped by Ksh10 and that has not happened for a long time. The policies that he set have started working. We are now seeing change and I know more is coming."

Govt Settles Debate on 2nd Term Opening Date

On the other hand, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that opening dates for schools adversely affected by the floods will be extended.

Speaking during a press briefing at his official residence in Karen, Gachagua noted that the Ministry of Education was coordinating with county governments to map out institutions that had been affected.

He expressed that parents and students would be informed of any changes in due course.

However, he noted that schools that have not been affected by the floods would resume classes on Monday, April 29.

“Where there is a need to extend the opening day, we can do that. Otherwise, for the purpose of the country, the school will open as planned," he stated.

The second term will run for 14 weeks with schools breaking for the August holidays on August 5.

The response by the government comes after parents raised concerns over the safety of students given that parts of the country have been marooned by floods.

According to Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, 64 schools in Nairobi have been the most affected by the ongoing heavy rains.

The rains have been projected to extend till Monday.
