Kenyans should brace themselves for tougher times as new fuel prices were announced on Thursday by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
In the latest review, the body announced that the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices in Nairobi are super petrol and diesel increase by Kshs 3.07 and Kshs. 0.39 per litre respectively.
"In accordance with Legal Notice No.196 of 2010, the Energy (Petroleum Pricing) Regulations and the amendment thereof, the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has calculated the maximum retail pump prices of petroleum products, for period 15th June to 14th July 2019," the notice by EPRA Director General Pavel Oimeke read.
Petrol prices in Nairobi will now retail at Ksh 115.10 and diesel at Ksh 104.76 while Kerosene will be Ksh 104.28 per litre.
In Mombasa, petrol will retail at Ksh 112.45, Diesel Ksh 102.13 and Kerosene Ksh 101.65,
This month's changes are as a consequence of average landed cost of imported super petrol increasing by 4.54 percent with diesel also increasing by 0.52 percent and kerosene decreasing by 0.43 percent.
Other major towns will also have their prices increase with petrol in Nakuru retailing at Ksh 115.57, Diesel Ksh105.45 and kerosene Ksh 104.98,
In Eldoret, petrol will retail at Ksh116.57, Diesel Ksh 106.46 and Kerosene Ksh 105.98 per litre.
Since January, the cost of petrol has risen by Ksh11.94, diesel by Ksh 8.31 and kerosene by Ksh 7.63.
