Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has reportedly officially ditched Deputy President William Ruto's camp for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Addressing a congregation at the Kimorori grounds in Kenol, Murang’a county, the governor revealed that she left the camp due to the DP's two habits.
Waiguru, who was once considered as one of Ruto's key allies, accused the deputy president of engaging in premature campaigns close to three years until the next general elections.
She further claimed that the DP often undermined the president.
Waiguru also attacked leaders from Mount Kenya region who were officially supporting Ruto asking them to shelve their 2022 plans and serve Kenyans.
“Even when the Deputy President was coming for negotiations (with President Kenyatta), he came with conditions, we shall also come with our conditions to see who to support in 2022.
“We should be discussing the referendum in this country and not 2022 politics because the region should be mindful of its stake after the expiry of President Kenyatta’s term,” Daily Nation quoted the soft-spoken governor.
Waiguru was making the speech in the presence of a rack of other leaders including Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Former MP Rachel Shebesh and Homa Bay Woman rep Gladys Wanga among others.
Wanga told the attendees that she and other colleagues were ready to deal with DP Ruto and his camp should they get stubborn.
“I was opposed to President Kenyatta and was the number one defender of Raila Odinga and since Mr (Raila) Odinga joined hands with the President, I have to support him. If Mr Ruto comes between us, we shall deal with him,” she stated.
