  • Budalangi Member of Parliament (MP), Raphael Wanjala, was inches away from trading blows with the Foreign Affairs CAS, Ababu Namwamba's Personal Assistant (PA).

The CAS's representative, Eric Obayi, incensed the MP when he took the podium and went on to relay Namwamba's remarks.

"Mimi nataka nikuambie bwana wanjala sisi hatuna jambo lolote  na wewe, loosely translating to, let me tell you one thing Wanjala, we have no business with you," Obayi retorted.

This remarks angered the crowd that had gathered for the burial of resident mzee Peter Musebe in Busia on Saturday.

The visibly angry MP rolled up his sleeves and started shouting "why are you addressing me?"

He threw his arms up in blinding anger and tried to jolt towards the podium, where Obayi had been left stranded after his speech was cut short.

It took the combined efforts of various other local leaders to restrain Wanjala from launching himself at Namwamba's PA over what he termed as disrespect.

Namwamba who quit the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) back in 2016 lost his Budalangi parliamentary seat to Wanjala in the subsequent election.

Obayi had earlier on tried to rally some support and respect for his boss by reminding the people that Namwamba was not just a former MP but rather a top government official at the moment.

He also made it clear that Namwamba was fully behind president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, adding that he had no qualms with Wanjala.
