Sonko Exposes Fake Loan App Using Him Name

Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has pointed out a fraudulent Google Play App that was being used to swindle Kenyans, by impersonating him.

The governor posted photos showing the app named Mike Sonko Rescue Loans - Official and categorically denied any links to the account.

"Please beware of these fraudsters who are using a Google play App to con innocent members of the public," the Governor divulged.

He also made it clear that the Nairobi County government did not deal in providing loan schemes of any form or nature.

"My office does not operate a loan scheme and any person masquerading as county employees or associating me with such criminal acts should be apprehended and prosecuted," Sonko warned.

Sonko went on to urge any of his county residents who may have fallen victim to the scam App to report the matter with the relevant authorities so that a proper case could be mounted.

"Any member of the public who has fallen prey to such fraudsters should report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission ()EACC or the County Government for action," he emphasised.

Earlier on, the Nairobi governor had highlighted a case that had made its way to his desk regarding corruption at maternity hospitals within the county, going on to vow that he would root out each and every officer implicated in the exploitative scheme.

"I can see our mothers are still being forced to cough up money by some of our corrupt officers who believe it is their right to make money through corruption. I'm appealing to the public, especially our mothers to turn down any request for payment during child birth at our county hospitals," Sonko lamented.

He then shared 9 telephone numbers through which victims of the corrupt officials could use to contact him and his team, in order for subsequent action to be affected.

"Send any information to 0727285663/ 0733520641/ 0202717468/ 0204997000/ 0709781000," the Governor divulged.
