Given the recent tensions concerning the alleged assassination threats against Deputy President William Ruto, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi took to his social media to advise President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ahmednasir urged Uhuru to cool off the tension and begin on a clean slate by disbanding the cabinet.
“In light of the allegations made by Deputy President William Ruto that about four members of the Cabinet are planning to kill him, H.E Uhuru in my considered view must disband his cabinet/government and start afresh…I don’t think this has precedent in our history,” tweeted the lawyer.
This comes after revelations of an anonymous letter reportedly written to President Uhuru Kenyatta that claimed there was a plot to eliminate Deputy President William Ruto.
The letter believed to have been penned by one of his Cabinet Secretaries who sought anonymity was dated May 30, 2019. Towards the end of the letter, the CS claimed other colleagues in the Cabinet were holding meetings to plan malice against the DP.
ICT CS Joe Mucheru, his Health counterpart Sicily Kariuki, Trade & Industrialization CS Peter Munya, on Monday appeared before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over the claims.
Past reports by The Standard indicate that President Uhuru Kenyatta was informed that some CSs, PSs and parastatal bosses from Mt Kenya region had met to plot his political downfall and assassination.
The publication further revealed that the Head of State ordered for DP Ruto's security to be scaled up which was implemented quickly as the DP has since received more security.
The state of activities has slowly been feeding the fire of tension between the Deputy President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, with the Uhuru on the fence on who whether to defend his deputy or uphold the handshake.
