Watch Bob Collymore's Heartwarming Videos You'll Live to Remember

Kenyans woke up to the heart-rending news of the passing on of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore on Monday morning.

Collymore had come to be loved by many for his down to earth nature, warm personality and humor even when explaining sad situations.

"So I went to London and I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer but curable, the haematologist told me the treatment would be a little bit harsh and I asked him, how long is this going to take, he said realistically six to nine months and that was the bigger shock," he narrated.

He succumbed to cancer at his home in Nairobi.

The late CEO once featured in Jimmy Gait's song called Furifuri where he sang, "Mi ni Bob Colymore, nimetoka majuu, ninapenda God na ninapenda Kenya and because of that I furifuri dance ( My name is Bob Collymore, I'm from abroad, I love God and I love Kenya and because of that I furifuri dance)."

Collymore, who has left behind a wife (Wambui Kamiru) and four children wedded her in 2016 at a colorful wedding. He would mention her in interviews every time he got a chance to do it.

"My wife Wambui said, I think you have malaria because she is really really good at self-diagnosis (lifts eyebrow).  I'm going to get into serious trouble tonight," he told Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange during an interview.

"The interesting thing is when I told my wife I was going to London, she says, oh okay, so when are we leaving," he continued.

The late Safaricom boss also warmed the hearts of many with his generosity and big heart. During an interview on Churchill Show, Bob heard the story of a girl who was trying to educate 2,500 girls and offered his help.

"Safaricom has celebrated it's 18th birthday this year and so what I want to do is take 18 of your girls and give them a full scholarship for the next five years," he told the young girl.
